TOGETHER WE CAN PROTECT OUR NEIGHBORHOODS FROM SHEETZ GAS STATIONS

Environmental and Health Concerns

Environmental preservation is crucial in ensuring a sustainable future for Metro Detroit. We advocate for responsible planning to protect the region's ecosystem and natural beauty.

Negative Impact on Property Values

We believe in fostering strong community bonds and creating vibrant neighborhoods. By uniting residents and local authorities, we strive to maintain a healthy and thriving community environment.

No Value Added

Some communities have more than enough gas stations throughout their residential neighborhoods and the need for new gas stations is shrinking considering a national decrease in gasoline consumption due to: Electrical Vehicles, Remote Employment, and price increases of all vehicles nationally.

Traffic & Safety

A major concern is the potential for Sheetz' large scale and 24-hour operations to create traffic congestion and safety issues, especially in residential areas. Some residents in Farmington Hills, Livonia, and other areas have voiced their concerns about the impact of increased vehicle traffic and potential for accidents.

Increased Crime

Some residents worry that a large, 24-hour business like Sheetz could potentially attract more crime to the area, even though Sheetz is not directly responsible for any crime. This is especially a concern in areas where there are already concerns about safety.

Impact on Local Businesses

Some small business owners and community leaders worry that Sheetz' entry into the market will negatively impact local businesses, particularly gas stations and convenience stores. They fear that Sheetz' larger scale and brand recognition could drive small businesses to close.

Noise & Light Pollution

Sheetz' 24-hour operation can generate noise and light pollution, which can be a nuisance for nearby residents, particularly those living in residential areas.

Community Character

Some residents feel that Sheetz' large scale and 24-hour operation don't fit within the character of their community, particularly in areas that preserve a more residential or local feel.

Location & Planning

The location of new Sheetz stores can be a major point of contention, with some communities expressing concerns about the sustainability of proposed locations.
